Our Mission

The mission of the Indian Beach Police Department is to serve the community with professionalism, pride, and integrity.  We will respect and protect the rights of individuals and enforce all laws and ordinances in a fair and impartial manner and preserve the Constitutional Rights of all citizens.  We will work with the community to prevent crime, loss or damage to property, protect against criminal attack, and preserve order in public places.

The Indian Beach Police Department offers many services for its residents and the general public. The services are provided on a "pre-request" basis which require individuals to contact the Police Department or submit proper applications.

 

1.  Community Relations
Officers are available to speak to individual homeowners or at Homeowner Association meetings on topics that include; personal safety, residential security, crime trends, motor vehicle law changes or any other requested topic.  A two week notice prior to the event date is required.  All requests should be made to the Police Department via email or letter.

 

2.  Residence Check Request

The Indian Beach Police Department provides Residence Checks as often as possible within the availability of their resources.  A Residence Check Request Form should be completed and submitted to the Police Department via email. 

 

3.  Welfare Check Request
A welfare check on any resident or visitor can be requested at anytime by contacting the Police Department. Phone: (252) 247-6700.


4.  Ride Along Request
The police department requests that anyone interested in participating in a ride along makes their request by phone. Requests are taken Monday – Friday between 9 AM – 12 PM.  Phone: (252) 247-6700.  A release of liability will have to be completed prior to ride along.

 

5.  Golf Cart Permits - 2020 permits are available now

  • Golf cart registrations and inspections are conducted 7 days a week from 9 AM – 12 PM

  • Proof of insurance is required

  • Permit cost $25.00

  • Permit must be renewed each year

6.  Beach Driving Permit

  • Beach driving is only permitted between September and May.

  • Beach permits are issued 7 days a week from 9 AM – 12 PM

  • Applicants must have a 4 wheel drive vehicle and provide a valid drivers license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance 

  • Seasonal Permits 

    • Permit for Property Owners (must provide proof of resident's for Indian Beach/Salter Path) NO FEE​

    • Permit for Non-Property Owners $50.00

  • 1 Day Permit $10.00

  • Permit must be renewed each year and are valid from September too May. 

  • Hours of vehicle operation on the beach are between Sunrise and Sunset​
